Mass Media to Blame for Teen's Behavior?

"Effects on Mass Media on Young Generation" was written by Neha Agarwal on 15 September, 2008 and published on ArticleBase. In this article, Agarwal discusses how media is not fully responsible for how young people act and that part of their behavior comes from our upbringing. Although media is still a very strong influence of teens. Media Executives denies any role in youth violence or bullying, but they are selling millions of dollars for advertising that are directed toward teens. The example that is used is McDonalds still uses a cartoon-like character to sell kids-meals. Agarwal also discusses that the media does help with awareness, but overall there needs to be a line drawn between the postitve and negative media that is directed towards young people.

I chose this website because it gave me a good view on the fact that company's spent so much money to just direct advertisements towards teens and even people who are younger. It was also interesting how the media executives denies any part in on the violence and bullying that is going on with teens. This website did provide plenty of things that were bad about mass media, but it did also have some good things to say as well. Overall this gives me an idea that there is positive influence and there is also bad influence from mass media.
